The Italian Embassy in Muscat is set to host two spectacular events for the renowned Italian house of couture, Gattinoni, in celebration of fashion as an expression of art and culture. A fascinating exhibition of priceless masterpieces in fashion history along with an Haute Couture runway show will exemplify the spellbinding creativity and craftsmanship of Italian Fashion that has transcended time.
Under the patronage of Her Highness Sayyida Dr. Mona bint Fahad Al Said, the exhibition curated by Stefano Dominella, CEO of Gattinoni Couture, will officially open on Monday 17th March at the Opera Galleria. Entitled “Fernanda Gattinoni: Fashion and Stars at the Time of Hollywood on the Tiber”, the exhibition of 24 exquisite dresses from the Fernanda and Raniero Gattinoni Historical Archive narrates the relationship between the great Italian Couturier and Hollywood’s most memorable style icons of the likes of Audrey Hepburn, Lana Turner, Elizabeth Taylor and Kim Novak, all of who have turned to one name and have enthralled audiences the world over with their captivating beauty and charm.
Open to the public on the 18th of March, the week-long exhibition will also showcase a selection of contemporary images by Paolo Belletti under the title, “Rome in Fashion”. The photographs are a combination of the capital of Italy’s extraordinary architecture and fashion.
Under the patronage of Her Highness Sayyida Aliya bint Thuwaini Al Said, Gattinoni’s Spring Summer 2014 Haute Couture Fashion Show, “The Cloud”, will be held at The Chedi, Muscat on Tuesday 18th March. The collection’s skilful combination of elements, ingenious construction of lines and rare color choices that highlight the female silhouette pay tribute to today’s contemporary woman. Audiences at the exclusive, invitation-only show will view an elegant collection of high artisanal Italian tailoring that flawlessly amalgamates modern, technological and innovative elements. An anthology of beautiful Gattinoni evening dresses will also walk the runway. Opening the show is a kaftan tribute to Oman designed by Gattinoni Couture Creative Director, Guillermo Mariotto, and the hand painted gown, “Tribute to Theatre”, will bring the show to a close.
Both events are sponsored by Maserati, The Zubair Corporation, Oman Air, Al Qurum Jewellery, Khimji Ramdas in addition to Amouage and produced by TRACCS Public Relations.
“The Gattinoni exhibition and fashion show have toured the world’s most fashionable cities such as Paris, New York, London, Los Angeles, Shanghai and Buenos Aires, and I am pleased that Muscat will now join this roster of prestigious destinations,” expressed H.E. Paola Amadei, Ambassador of Italy to Oman. “Known the world over, Gattinoni is one of the founders of the ‘Made in Italy’ insignia. Italian fashion is not only synonymous with taste and refinement, but with a strong appreciation for beauty, a deeply woven concept in our history, art and culture.”
She added, “Fashion is one of the milestones of Made in Italy. Italian products are admired all over the world for their beauty, quality, research and innovation which make them unique and inimitable. The presence of a prestigious brand such as Gattinoni in Muscat is indicative of the special attention Italian companies are paying to Oman. Building on the excellent relationship between the two countries, we are working on further developing our trade and cultural relations and increasing Italy’s presence in Oman and vice versa.”
Stefano Dominella, CEO of Gattinoni Couture, said, “Our brand is currently going through a phase of great expansion and our presence in Muscat for the very first time is a strong reflection of our growth and development in high-potential markets. We are honored to be in the Sultanate of Oman, a wonderful country rich in culture and tradition. These two important events with the presence and support of key institutions, buyers and the local press will enable us to share our story that centers on fine Italian craftsmanship, beauty and exceptional quality.”
Gattinoni’s creations map out an unparalleled journey somewhere between reality and dreams and harmony and discord to narrate the magic of elegance. The brand’s innovative yet commercial message combined with sartorial tradition are the elements that have made Maison Gattinoni, founded by Fernanda Gattinoni in 1946, one of the oldest and most revered names in the international fashion arena and for that reason, an ideal global Ambassador for Fashion and “Made-in-Italy”. Gattinoni’s presence in Oman aims to not only further strengthen business and institutional relations but also highlight the importance of Italian fashion from a cultural and historical perspective.
