Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS), the region’s leading shopping and entertainment extravaganza, is bringing international style icon and fashion mogul Kimora Lee Simmons to the city on 10 August to host an interactive style session.
The Creative Director of KLS Kimora Lee Simmons will take centre stage at The Dubai Mall Fashion Catwalk to judge a styling competition and offer fashion advice on how to dress for the occasion and one’s personality, while showcasing how to accessorise and look fabulous in the latest trends in day wear, evening wear, abayas and more. Simmons will engage the audience by taking questions in between each look. The session will be co-hosted by Mohammed Sultan Al Habtoor, one of the most influential fashion icons in the Middle East, and the duo is sure to keep The Dubai Mall audience captivated.
Dubai Summer Surprises, organised by Dubai Festivals & Retail Establishment (DFRE), runs from 2 August to 5 September 2014 and promises a month-long festival of valuable shopping deals and fun-filled, family-oriented entertainment throughout the city. The style session is just one part of the city-wide Dubai Summer Surprises extravaganza, launched back in 1998. In a city that’s renowned for shopping (voted the number destination in the world for shopping by TripAdvisor), this festival embraces all things retail, seeing thousands of stores, souqs and malls join in the fun by slashing prices and launching competitions with incredible prizes worth millions of dirhams.
Kimora Lee Simmons is a highly acclaimed fashion designer, lifestyle entrepreneur and beauty maven well known for being the face of Chanel, her hit docu-reality seriesKimora, Life in the Fab Lane, and as the former President and Creative Director of Phat Fashions, comprising the Phat Farm and Baby Phat brands. In 2011, she joined JustFab as President and Creative Director, developing an exclusive collection of shoes and bags for the online subscription-based brand, which is currently the world’s largest online footwear retailer, boasting 800,000 members and $500 million in sales volume in its fourth year.

Three leading Dubai personalities will outfit the models from head-to-toe for the style session, featuring clothing and accessories from Galeries Lafayette, the forefront of retailing in Dubai. Stylists will be spoilt for choice assembling their looks from the largest department store in Dubai which offers a wide selection of the most fashionable and top designer labels and a 360-degree shopping experience which includes womenswear, abayas, eveningwear, jewellery, luxury accessories, shoes, beauty, and more.
The Dubai Mall, the world’s largest shopping and entertainment destination is the obvious host for the style session. The mall has revolutionised the modern shopping experience, offering its visitors numerous retail choices and facilities, including more than 1,200 retail outlets, 200 restaurants, and a host of world-class attractions such as the Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo, the 76,000 sq.ft. adrenaline SEGA Republic theme park, Olympic-sized Dubai ice rink, and more.
Dubai Summer Surprises and Galeries Lafayette are offering a chance to win VIP passes to the invitation-only style session, via a Dubai Summer Surprises Tag Your Style Instagram social media competition. The UAE’s fashionistas can showcase their fabulous sense of style by posting a picture of themselves on Instagram with the hash-tags #MyDubai and #KimoraDubai. The competition, from 20 July to 3 August, is open to UAE residents only. Three winners will receive two VIP passes for the exclusive style session. One grand prize winner will receive a bespoke Galeries Lafayette experience, which includes a personal shopper style session, hair makeover at the Jacque La Couple Salon, gift voucher for Gerard Darrel,a Poca & Poca gift, and a Lafayette Gourmet gift hamper.
