In recent years, Cadillac – the leading luxury auto brand since 1902 – has engineered a historic renaissance led by ultra-creative designs, artful engineering and advanced technology. The truth is, Cadillac’s longstanding legacy is punctuated by revolutionary design innovations – all of which have set the brand starkly apart in a market fierce with competition.
Now, Cadillac’s all-new line-up of vehicles – which include the all-new 2014 CTS Sedan, the 2014 XTS, the 2014 ATS and the 2014 SRX – further cement the brand’s unwavering commitment to the highest standards of design excellence.
2014 Cadillac CTS Sedan
Cadillac’s all-new 2014 CTS sedan ascends into the heart of the midsize luxury market with expanded performance, elevated luxury and sophisticated technology.
“The vehicle model stretches figuratively and literally – it is also impeccably designed and strikingly modern,” said Nadim Ghrayeb, Cadillac’s Brand Manager. “Marrying bespoke craftsmanship and luxury, the all-new CTS – which has always been Cadillac’s centrepiece – perfectly embodies the brand’s strong design heritage. After all, Cadillac has long stood for daring design, uncompromising performance and ground-breaking technology.”
In effect, the third-generation CTS sedan is based on the high-performing rear-drive architecture of the award-winning ATS sport sedan, moving Cadillac into the prestigious class of midsize luxury sedans. It will be the segment’s lightest car, enabling the most agile driving dynamics in the class.
A longer, lower and more athletic-looking proportion is introduced on Cadillac’s landmark sedan and evolves the brand’s Art & Science design philosophy. While growing 127 mm in length, including a 30.5 mm longer wheelbase, the roofline and cowl – the base of the windshield – are about 25 mm lower, dimensions that complement the longer exterior to accentuate the car’s lean aesthetic.
While stretched in overall length and wheelbase, the all-new CTS sedan has a lower curb weight than the preceding model. Lightweight features, including Cadillac’s first aluminum door structures, contribute to the lower weight and a 50/50 weight balance.
Cadillac’s shield grille and signature vertical lighting elements – including LED front signature lighting detail – evolve on the CTS. The grille is wider, with a more detailed texture, while the headlamps flow up with the hood line, incorporating crystalline LED light guides for a technologically advanced appearance with more uniform illumination.
Inside, a roomier, driver-centric cockpit interior with integrated technology and hand-crafted appointments complements the exterior and supports the CTS sedan’s driving experience. Eight available interior environments are offered, each trimmed with authentic wood, carbon fiber or aluminum. Leather seating is also available, including available full semi-aniline leather, with hand-crafted, cut-and-sewn executions.
2014 Cadillac XTS
The all-new Cadillac XTS is one of the most technologically advanced production cars in the brand’s history, delivering the space, elegance and dramatic presence that are brand signatures in a unique package tuned for a new generation of luxury customers.
Cadillac’s all-new, power-dense Twin-Turbo V-6 engine highlights new features for 2014, along with technologies including available Automatic Parking Assist and Intellibeam. Additional new and revised features include:
• An available rear-seat entertainment system with twin DVD screens that fold out of the backs of the front seats
• Opaque sunroof sunshade.
Indeed, the XTS is offered in a well-equipped standard model and two optional collections: Luxury and Platinum. And, the XTS Platinum represents the highest level of technology and luxury, including a unique front appearance, wheels and interior colors, materials and trim.
The new Cadillac Twin-Turbo 3.6L V-6 is available in the XTS, delivering SAE-certified 410 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque, making it one of the most power-dense six-cylinder engines in the segment.
The XTS is also the most spacious Cadillac sedan, tailored to provide roominess in a more efficiently sized package. It offers more interior space than midsize luxury cars and is comparable to full-size sedans, particularly in the rear seat area, where it has 1,016 mm of rear legroom providing more room than its competition.
When it comes to trunk space, the XTS is in a league of its own, with 509 L, exceeding both midsize and full-size competitors. For XTS customers, the cargo advantage means room for five or more suitcases.
Moreover, XTS’s hardware and spatial dimensions are the foundational layers that support exceptional surface detail. Multidimensional elements, including the grille, headlamps and accent lighting, coalesce to give the XTS a presence and attention to detail unlike any Cadillac that has come before it.
“The XTS’s surface details also convey a more nuanced design philosophy, bringing elegance with refined, graceful forms and surfaces working harmoniously with established Cadillac linear forms,” added Ghrayeb.
Like the exterior, the XTS’s cabin extolls a multidimensional philosophy in a bold, elegant design that is also very efficient in the ways it encompasses passengers and cargo. It represents Cadillac’s new expression of luxury also in its use of authentic materials and unprecedented connectivity. Platinum Collection models feature a fully wrapped leather interior with microfiber sueded headliner, as well as premium wood trim on the steering wheel, console, center stack, instrument panel and door panels.
2014 Cadillac ATS
The Cadillac ATS compact luxury sports sedan challenges the world’s best premium cars with an acclaimed balance of performance and refinement, wrapped in a progressive expression of Cadillac’s Art & Science design philosophy.
With one of the lowest curb weights in the segment – nearly 1,497 kg – the ATS’s driving dynamics are rooted in mass efficiency, which helps make it Cadillac’s lightest and most agile sedan.
A long, 2,775 mm wheelbase and wide front/rear tracks are the cornerstones of the ATS’s firmly planted stance, which is enhanced by short overhangs and taut sheet metal that appears to wrap tightly around the tires. Eighteen-inch wheels are standard on all models.
Bold vertical lighting elements – including LED front signature lighting detail – as well as illuminating outside door handles and active grille shutters, lend technologically advanced style and function to the ATS. The grille shutters close when additional engine cooling is not required, to reduce aerodynamic drag and enhance fuel economy.
The new Intellibeam feature – included with the Driver Awareness or Driver Assist packages – automatically deploys high-beam headlamps when needed and instantly turns them down when oncoming traffic is detected. HID, High Intensity Discharge headlamps, includes Adaptive Forward Lighting and LED vertical light; signatures are standard on all models.
A driver-focused interior with integrated technology and crafted materials complements the exterior elements and supports the ATS’s driving experience. Everything from the placement of the pedals to the position of the shifter is designed for effortless and intuitive performance driving.
Contributing to the interior’s intuitive feel is an instrument panel that wraps into the doors and a center stack in the mid-instrument panel that flows into the center console. LED lighting for the bold gauge cluster enables clear, at-a-glance viewing in all lighting conditions, while ambient lighting accents functional elements of the console and doors.
Real wood, metal plating and carbon fiber trim and Cadillac’s cut-and-sewn instrument panel, console and doors enhance the emotional connection to the ATS. Choices of many interior color themes, each with unique accent trim material, cover a wide range of flavors – from light, open and warm to dark and serious, bold technical and sporty.
Interior color and trim choices include: Jet Black with Jet Black accents, Morello Red with Jet Black accents, Light Platinum with Brownstone accents, Caramel with Jet Black accents and Light Platinum with Jet Black accents.
2014 Cadillac SRX
The all-new Cadillac SRX certainly offers a roomy interior, with seating for five and a large cargo area. Its design is classic Cadillac, with luxury that touches every aspect of the vehicle, from the technology-drenched dashboard and high-performance powertrain to the exclusive comfort and convenience features designed to surpass expectations.
The 2014 SRX offers Intellibeam headlamps as part of the Driver Awareness Package. It automatically deploys high-beam headlamps when needed and instantly turns them down when oncoming traffic is detected. Also new for 2014 is a trio of exterior colors: Graphite Metallic, Terra Mocha Metallic and Sapphire Blue Metallic. There’s also a new interior color combination: Caramel with Ebony accents. SRX is offered in two option collections: Luxury and Premium, with all-wheel drive offered on all models.
While Cadillac’s luxury crossover maintains its well-heeled exterior design, with striking angles and refined details, the SRX has never looked better. The signature shield piece grille design offers expressive depth for an overall richer appearance. Flanking the grille are Cadillac’s iconic vertical headlamps, with light pipe technology and available Adaptive Forward Lighting technology that turns the lamps in the direction of the front wheels.
The light pipes provide a glow to the front fender vents of the SRX, as well as the vertical taillamps. Furthermore, the SRX has a wide stance, minimal overhangs and wheels pushed to corners. Eighteen-inch wheels are standard on the Luxury Collection and 20-inch wheels are standard on Premium Collection.
