The GMC Yukon has been ranked the highest in its segment in the 2014 J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study.
The global market research company uses information gathered from owners of three-year old vehicles (2011 year models) to rank overall dependability. Vehicles and brands are graded according to the number of problems that occur in every 100 vehicles, especially in the first 90 days of new-car ownership. The annual J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study has become a linchpin for automakers to hinge the perception of their brand and to get undiluted feedback from those who matter the most – the customers.
The 2014 instalment has proven particularly successful for GMC; a brand that has carved a niche for itself in the Middle East and as its philosophy suggests ‘Commands Respect’ due to innovation and engineering excellence that has been incorporated in each model.
“This recognition is very welcome as it highlights the strength of the brand, more so as it is based on owners’ reliable feedback,” stated Virendra Agarwal, CEO – Moosa Abdul Rahman Hassan & Co LLC.
In preparation for an all-new 2015 GMC Yukon, the 2014 lineup carries over with essentially the same range of standard and available features. A third-row seat is standard on all Yukon models that feature a 116-inch (2,946 mm) wheelbase and overall length of 202 inches (5,130 mm), which enables up to 3,084 litres of storage space (with the second-row seat folded and third-row seat removed).
Yukon XL models have exterior dimensions similar to the regular models, but are about 355.6 mm longer in wheelbase and 508 mm longer in overall length, offering 3,894 litres of maximum cargo space. In fact, Yukon XL / Yukon XL Denali offer the segment’s best cargo capacity behind the first-, second- and third-row seats. With the available segment-exclusive second-row power fold-and-tumble seats, each seat releases, folds and tumbles out of the way with a simple, one-hand operation for easier access to the third-row seat.
Yukon and Yukon XL models feature a 5.3L V-8 with GM’s fuel-saving Active Fuel Management technology, while Denali models feature a 6.2L V-8. The 5.3L and 6.2L engines are capable of running on E85 ethanol and feature efficiency-enhancing technologies, including variable valve timing and Active Fuel Management. Responsive steering, a wide track and low centre of gravity contribute to a smooth, comfortable and secure driving experience. All these features add to making Yukon among the most recognizable SUV on the road to date.
