General Automotive Company, the official distributor of Mitsubishi vehicles in Oman, was presented with the Gold Award in the Automotive Category at the 8th edition of The Oman Web Awards for their website www.mitsubishioman.com. The 8th edition of The Oman Web Awards (OWA) Ceremony 2014 took place at the Majan Ballroom in Al Bustan Palace, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, under the auspicious of H.E. HamoodSangour Al Zadjali, the Executive President of the Central Bank of Oman (CBO).
The Gold Award was received by Steven Tomkinson, the National Sales Manager; Rajesh Sharma, National Marketing Manager; and Zuweina Al Azri, Communications Manager, on behalf of General Automotive Company.
Commenting on the achievement, Rajesh Sharma, the National Marketing Manager of General Automotive Company said, “While developing our new site, our objective was not only to deliver rapid information access and smooth navigation but also adhere to our corporate brand guidelines. This award is a testament to our efforts and a clear indication that we have achieved our initial goals. Launched in Maylast year, the local brand website reflects Mitsubishi’s design experience in totality. On the homepage there are several useful tools for customers to use and take advantage of. Special promotions, schedule service appointments, book a test drive and customer service, and a detailed and continually monitored customer feedback area are just some of the links available on the website for customers.
The website is user friendly and has a dedicated tab requesting ideas and feedback from audiences. The design and visual layout of the site allows easier usability with a more intuitive interface and embedded links to direct pages within the website. The website also includes seamless integration of social media, linking Mitsubishi Oman’s Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube channels which are constantly monitored and updated with the latest news and information.
Organised by the SJS Group (Oman), under the patronage of the Information Technology Authority (e.oman) and in association with Microsoft and Business Software Alliance (BSA), the competition was created to recognize excellence in web design and web development skills, while ultimately encouraging a greater awareness towards digital communication in all sectors of the economy. This year the contest witnessed over 300 entries spanning 26 categories. The judging procedures passed through two-phases in order to reach a correct and transparent grading. The local Mitsubishi brand website’s strong scores across all parameters, placing it as the leading website in the Automotive Category.
At the awards, the website was commended for its design and visual layout which allows easier usability with a more intuitive interface and embedded links to all key information directly from the home page. Other highlights that let to its recognition by the judging committee included its functionality, consistency, design harmony and overall balance and contrast.
