Five minutes with: Watchmaking icon Jean-Claude Biver

June 15, 2017 2:45 pm

Chairman of the Board at Hublot and President of LVMH Group Watch Division Jean-Claude Biver began acting as interim CEO of Zenith in January, in addition to the CEO role he plays at TAG Heuer, and which makes him the top boss at LVMH Watches & Jewellery’s three biggest brands.

Biver is well known in the watchmaking industry for having the Midas touch: Hublot, Omega, Blancpain and TAG Heuer have all reaped the benefits of his lucrative vision as each brand has gone from strength to strength.

The latest example is TAG Heuer, which last year enjoyed its best year since 1860 – the year it was founded. As interim CEO, Biver can add Zenith to that list of success stories.

We catch up with Biver to talk inspiration and life:

What is your favourite travel destination?

My favourite place to go is Ramatuelle (close to St.Tropez) where I have an extraordinary property.

What did you want to be when you were growing up?

I wanted to be a professional ski teacher.

If you could bring something extinct back to life, what would you choose?

I would love to have my first camping bus Volkswagen back because it is full of great souvenirs, and memories.

Who would you invite to your dream dinner party?

A perfect dinner would be with my wife and my children.

If you could go back in time, where would you go?

To 1967, when I was a hippy.

What is the most important lesson life has taught you?

The most important lesson life has given me is that love is all we need.
