Baselworld: The countdown begins

The world is anticipating the unveiling of new creations and innovations in the global watches and jewellery industry as the trend-setting Baselworld exhibition inches closer.
Baselworld, an annual watches and jewellery exhibition held in the city of Basel, Switzerland, is a must-attend occasion for brands, watches and jewellery enthusiasts, as well as buyers and other industry players. The show unites the entire industry under one roof to for brands to showcase their latest creations.
The unique element of the show is its ability to group together the world’s most renowned and prestigious brands, along with up and coming artists and independents, the finest retailers and global press covering all happenings.
The event also attracts other players in the industry who are essential to the creation of beautiful watches and jewellery pieces, but are not exactly always in the picture, such as suppliers of diamonds, gemstones, pearls and machinery.
Baselworld has created a new space concept for the most successful independent watchmakers, and today have more of these than ever.
Tribute to value
Every year, Baselworld is inaugurated by a member of the Swiss Federal Council, as a tribute to the high value of the show for Switzerland and the world. This year, Federal Councillor Alain Berset, head of the Federal Department of Home Affairs and Vice President, will be present to open the show through an official opening ceremony which includes a ribbon cutting in the main hall of the show.
Prior to the opening, a live-streamed press conference where over 11,000 key media representatives will attend from around the world are expected to be watching.
