Zenith Skeletons crawl out: El Primero’s boldest additions
* Zenith introduced El Primero Tourbillon Skeleton and El Primero Skeleton
* Both models are revealed through a deep, black open-worked dial with red accents
* Models feature a 45 mm black ceramic skeleton dial
Swiss watch luxury manufacturer Zenith introduced two new skeleton models belonging to the El Primero family; the El Primerp Toubillon Skeleton, and the El Primero Skeleton, highlighting a bolder, stronger statement made by the brand.
The movements on both models are successors of the world’s most precise, series-made chronograph, which was developed by Zenith back in 1969. Both models are revealed through a deep, black open-worked dial with red accents, with characteristics that enhance their three-dimensional display.
The models feature a 45 mm black ceramic skeleton dial, to showcase the detailed and intricate craftsmanship of the El Primero mechanisms.
Several luxury watchmakers are abandoning gold and platinum cases in favour of ceramic. However, this is reportedly Zenith’s first foray with this material.
The models are also complicated by their verynature. The El Primero Tourbillon Skeleton combines a tourbillon with a high-frequency chronograph, while the El Primero Skeleton highlights the energy of the classical “El Primero” chronograph.
El Primero Tourbillon Skeleton
This model houses the El Primero Calibre 4035 automatic chronograph tourbillon movement. The tourbillion carriage, placed at 11 o’clock, performs one rotation per minute. The openworked chronograph counters form a figure eight.
The El Primero Skeleton chronograph movement powers central hours and minutes, beating at 36,000 vibrations per hour enabling a tenth-of-a-second display. The El Primero Skeleton chronograph movement powers central hours and minutes, small seconds, chronograph and date functions.
This model’s strong, bold character is supported by a perforated black rubber strap.
El Primero Skeleton
The engine of this model is the El Primero Calibre 400B, it is regarded the more classical model between the two. On the El Primero Skeleton dial, hours and minutes are placed at the centre, with small seconds at 9 o’clock chornograph. It includes a central chronograph hand, a 12-house counter at six o’clock, a 30-minute counter at three o’clock and a date indication at six o’clock.
This model also brings in a bold element with a black rubber, carbon-fibre-coated strap.
Rubber straps for both models are fitted with a titanium and black PVD-treated triple folding clasp. Moreover, each model has over 50-hour of power reserve.
