EMEA posts strongest rise in Q1 pay-TV subscribers growth

According to the latest informitv Multiscreen Index, subscriber numbers for the world’s leading pay-TV services have shown steady increase in the first quarter of this year, Rapid TV News has reported. The survey of 100 multi-channel pay-TV services covering the Americas, EMEA, and Asia Pacific regions, showed that there was a 4.17 million (1.4%) quarter-on-quarter increase in numbers during the quarter, while year-on-year they grew 5.2%, representing 17.43 million additions. Services in Europe, the Middle East and Africa gained the most subscribers, led by Tricolor in Russia, adding 340,000 in three months with satellite bouquets making the greatest gains over the quarter, while operators in India accounted for most of the gains for cable, the report said.
