The diverse attractions of the 17th edition of Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) are continuing to grab headlines in both English and Arabic publications across the GCC region.

From the complete family-oriented entertainment agenda to the festival’s major components such as the DSS Apprenticeship Program, the three world premieres including Angry Birds Universe Interactive Experience, The Decepticon Clone TRANSFORMERS show and the Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure – the regional newspapers are buzzing with announcements of the various events and activities being held as part of the ongoing month-long summer extravaganza.

Newspapers in both the languages are reporting an upswing in the number of regional visitors who are flocking to Dubai as their preferred holiday destination for summer, to enjoy the line-up of fun-filled family activities.

Writing about DSS, The Times of Oman highlighted that Dubai offers visitors value deals, unique fun and educational zones during this period and that the world premiere of Angry Birds Universe Interactive Experience offers residents of Oman the amazing opportunity to enjoy this one-of-a-kind attraction in Dubai.

Saudi Gazette too highlighted the DSS’ signature line-up of events including the world premieres and the many shopping promotions that the city has to offer at the leading malls – making the DSS a magnet for regional visitors to shop in the emirate. In another report, the Saudi publication also highlighted the fact that Dubai is proving to be the most favorite “family-friendly” destination of tourists from the Kingdom this summer.

Online portal and popular magazine Bahrain Confidential too classified Dubai as the region’s holidaymakers’ favorite summer destination of choice with an eclectic line-up that has something for the entire family.

A report by Daily Tribune from Bahrain highlighted the partnerships that DTCM has formed with KSA, Oman and Kuwait to encourage regional tourism to Dubai during the ‘Summer is Dubai’ campaign and Gulf Marketing Review placed Dubai Summer Surprises as the event of the month – outlining the range of activities and attractions the month-long festival has to offer.

The regional publications from 17 participating markets also announced the names of individual winners from the respective countries who will participate in the 9th edition of the DSS Apprenticeship Program, a unique initiative by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), that offers the brightest minds from the region a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work alongside the marketing experts behind the success of the DSS brand.

DSS, which is organized by DFRE, will run until 5 September under the theme “The Fun Side of Summer’.
