Launching of the 4th Edition of the Children’s Film Week
The fourth edition of the Children’s Film Week was launched this morning at Zaha Cultural Center. Princess Rym Ali, patron of the event, attended the opening ceremony along with a number of Embassies representatives participating in this event, which will last until the 10th of April.
This film week comes as the result of the cooperation between Zaha Cultural Center and the Royal Film Commission- Jordan (RFC), and includes a number of films from Jordan, USA, Japan, Russia and Palestine.
The week- long screenings include among others the Animation film “The Croods”, the Narrative “Voices from Distant Star”, the Documentary “Kick Like a Girl”, the Adventure Film “Magic Carpet”, the Jordanian Documentary “Samar” and the Short Film “Gold Fish”. These films give the children the opportunity to watch a content that provides both awareness and entertainment, while introducing them to different cultures.
The Children’s Film Week, organized for the fourth consecutive year, comes in line with the RFC and the Center’s vision that acknowledges the need of having a bigger cultural offer for children.
Along with the screenings, the RFC has also organized a “Digital Filmmaking Workshop for Children”, which introduced the young participants to the basics of filmmaking. As a result of this workshop, a Short Film entitled “Children of Amman” has been produced and was screened at the opening.
It is worth mentioning that the cooperation between the Zaha Cultural Center and the RFC was initiated in 2011 with the launch of the first Children’s Film Week in March 2011. This has continued by organizing two consecutive editions, in April 2012 and April 2013, showcasing a selection of unique films that the audience of youngsters greatly enjoyed, in addition to several filmmaking workshops tailored for children.
