Deutsche Bank`s Middle East Foundation renews partnership with Palestine Association for Children’s Encouragement of Sport
Deutsche Bank’s Middle East Foundation has renewed its partnership with Palestine Association for Children’s Encouragement of Sport (PACES) by supporting its programs in Palestine, Jordan and Lebanon again in 2014.
PACES was founded in June of 2006 with the primary goal of providing healthy, safe, and structured after-school sports programs for Palestinian girls and boys living in marginalized communities and refugee camps. The organization wants to empower youngsters through sports, to use sports as a means to drive positive behavior change in children and to promote sports as an important part of the community’s social fabric.
The program will start with 280 groups of children and this will grow during the program cycle in 2014. Each group will have 22 or 23 children for a total of 6,200 children initially and going to up 7,000 a few weeks later.
Not only does PACES provide fun, educational and healthy initiatives to children, but it also creates jobs – for the 2014 program cycle they will create employment for 636 coaches.
Commenting on the partnership, Philippe Vollot, Chairman of Deutsche Bank’s Middle East Foundation and the Bank’s regional Chief Operating Officer, said: “We are delighted to continue our support for PACES again in 2014 through our Middle East Foundation. Over the past years, PACES managed to establish an impressive track-record and proved its continuous support for underprivileged children. Deutsche Bank’s Middle East Foundation has a solid record of supporting unfortunate communities, and will keep building on that contribution.”
Hani Qattan, Founder and Chairman of Palestine Association for Children’s Encouragement of Sport, said: “We are delighted and honoured by the support of Deutsche Bank’s Middle East Foundation. Such support will allow us to grow our programs and create much-needed employment in the centres and the camps which house our programs. In addition to the 636 coaches who we fully employ, we will also provide internships to 200 young men and women who have recently graduated from our programs. We look forward to many more years of support from Deutsche Bank’s Middle East Foundation as such a strategic long-term relationship is important to our philosophy and sustainability.”
This is the fifth time that Deutsche Bank’s Middle East Foundation supports PACES since the Foundation’s establishment in 2008.
