Long distance walker and charity fundraiser, Mashreq employee Nasser Ibrahim has completed his 100km marathon from Abu Dhabi to Dubai, raising AED 50,000 for special needs children in Rashid Centre for Disabled.
Setting off from Abu Dhabi Airport on 1st February at 12noon, Nasser arrived at Dubai Internet City Mashreq branch on 3rd Feb at 4pm and completed the final 1km of the walk alongside senior officers and staff from Mashreq. Children from Rashid Centre welcomed Nasser at the finish line.
Handing over the donations cheque, Mashreq’s CEO, H.E. Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair said: “We would like to congratulate Nasser on his achievement and raising money for such a worthy cause and centre in the UAE. This money will go towards the sustainability of the Rashid Centre for Disabled and raising awareness about disability in the UAE. We need to integrate these children because they have just as much talent and ability as other children. As a UAE National financial institution, our focus is to support similar issues in our community and we certainly look forward to do so in other occasions.”
Speaking after completing his seventh fundraising walk Nasser said: “I am very happy to have completed the final kilometer alongside my colleagues. It is very close to my heart and raising awareness about disability is very important and more needs to be done. I would like thank Mashreq for their support and donation, which are valuable to continue the up-keeping of the centre and look forward to my eight walkathon next year.”
