Fourth batch of professionals graduate from Dubai Trade’s CTLP
Dubai Trade, the premier cross-border trade facilitator, graduated the 4th batch of 274 professionals in supply chain and cross border trading through its Certified Trade & Logistics Professional (CTLP) course.
The graduation ceremony, which was held at the Al Fardha Hall in Dubai Customs premises last Tuesday 20th May 2014, was attended by host senior officials including Eng. Mahmood Al Bastaki, CEO of Dubai Trade CEO, Mr. Steve Cross, Board Member of Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (CILT) UAE along with senior officials and graduates from DP World, Dubai Customs and Dubai Trade.
The CTLP is the only comprehensive and progressive vocational training course that covers the end-to-end process of import and export in the UAE and the region. The hands-on programme is designed to give trainees an in-depth understanding of the full business concepts and procedures related to all stakeholders involved in the trade supply chain.
The course covers cross-border trading and logistics to maximize business efficiency and create professionals who are knowledgeable and skilled in trade policies and regulations locally and internationally. Other than being endorsed and supported by the International Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (CILT), the CTLP is also accredited by Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) in Dubai.
Before handing out the certificates to the graduates, Dubai Trade CEO, Eng. Mahmood Al Bastaki delivered an opening speech and congratulated the graduates: “Our congratulations to all the graduates, who have shown remarkable keenness to stay up-to-date with the latest supply chain and cross-border business concepts to ensure smoother trade and commerce for our region and eliminate process errors. We are proud of the success of the CTLP, more than 800 trainees from a diverse range of job roles and functions including logistics and transportation service providers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, shipping agents, traders, marine service providers and government officials enrolled in CTLP where 47 sessions were conducted since its inception in 2011. It is heartening to see the interest also from outside the UAE, the course was attended by trainees from the US, Germany, KSA, Qatar, Bahrain, Azerbaijan, Yemen and Sudan.”
Al Bastaki continued, “As our mission is to make trade easier, faster and cost effective for all the relevant parties whether our stakeholders or traders, we at Dubai Trade have launched last August the advanced level of the CTLP. The course has been further enhanced by adding air freight, land transportation and supply chain with additional case studies and scenarios in both Arabic and English languages to serve the needs of Trade & Logistics community. We assure the continuation of the CTLP course improvement in line with the ‘Dubai 2021 – Government of the Future initiative’ which calls for adoption of the best international standards and practices in the field of government services.”

The CTLP course covers seven modules, ranging from Introduction to Trade, Import & Export Process, Transshipment, Multi-Modal Transport & Chartering, Freight Forwarders, Logistics & Supply Chain, DP World and Dubai Customs e-Services. It is delivered on monthly basis in an intensive format over one week as well as in two-weeks of evening sessions. A total of 40 hours are required to complete the course.
