Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre to unlock potential of SME’s in meetings industry
The Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre (OCEC) will stimulate numerous opportunities for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the Sultanate’s evolving Meetings and Conventions industry and reinforce the prospect of forging business partnerships with local suppliers at a special networking event planned at the InterContinental Hotel Muscat on Tuesday 8th April.
In collaboration with the Public Authority for SME Development (PASMED), AEG Ogden and Omran, the venue operator and developer of OCEC respectively, have identified more than 600 SMEs that have the potential to benefit from the opening of Oman’s new home for business and the additional tourism events that will be generated.
Trevor McCartney, General Manager of OCEC said, “According to PASMED, 90% of all firms in Oman are SMEs, therefore, we are working closely with the Authority to re-align Omani SMEs with the meetings and conventions economic model. We invite all interested SMEs to register and take advantage of the event which will prove to be the perfect opportunity to learn more about each other and how we can leverage future business partnerships. Our strategy is to put local-based suppliers at the top of the list as the preferred choice to meet requirements of both construction and post opening phases.”
Representatives from Omran along with the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre will be available to share latest developments and establish a two-way stream of collaboration across various segments of the meetings and conventions industry’s value chain. Other participating organisations include Oman Air, Oman Airports, InterContinental Hotels Group.
