ADSIC’s innovative AD-SDI program takes centre stage at GISWORX 2014
Abu Dhabi Systems & Information Centre (ADSIC) showcased its pioneering services and initiatives for Abu Dhabi Spatial Data Infrastructure (AD-SDI) program during the 9th edition of ‘GIS Workshops and Exhibitions-GISWORX’14’. The event, running from 15 -17 April 2014 in Dubai, witnessed the participation of more than 800 Esri users from across the GCC.
Khawla Al Fahim, Acting Executive Manager at Spatial Data Center delivered a key presentation during the event’s opening-day plenary session. During the session, she shed light on the factors that contributed to the outstanding achievements of the AD-SDI program and how it has helped streamline the business operations of government services via spatial information and sharing. She also emphasized the essential role of executive leadership and sustained collaborations with stakeholders to modernize government services by spatially enabling them.
Commenting on the event, Khawla Al Fahim, Acting Executive Manager at Spatial Data Center at ADSIC, said, “GISWORX is an ideal networking platform that highlights the latest innovative technological solutions offered by ESRI to users. The event is the largest geographic information system (GIS) users gathering in the Middle East and facilitates sharing best practices, research, ideas, experiences and building long-lasting relationships amongst stakeholders.” She added, “Attending this event will also keep the community up to date with Esri’s latest GIS software and geodatabase management applications that will ultimately help us in delivering world class services which are in line with the Abu Dhabi e-Government vision.”
ADSIC showcased the recently revamped brand identity for the Abu Dhabi Spatial Data Infrastructure (AD-SDI) program. The program is a leading e-Government initiative that aims to facilitate the sharing of geospatial data among government entities and key stakeholders. It also showcased its strong technological infrastructure amongst hundreds of delegates that visited the booth at the exhibition.
ADSIC is the government entity in charge of Abu Dhabi’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) agenda. The entity has witnessed increased use and remarkable growth in spatial datasets across different applications, which has helped government entities in the Abu Dhabi offer new services. As of today, AD-SDI program consists of 64 government entities.
