Bank Sohar supports Oman Association for the Disabled – Sohar
In their 5th consecutive year of support to the Oman Association for the Disabled, Bank Sohar has once again made a contribution towards sustaining and supporting the Organization’s operations for their Sohar branch. The donation included financial support for the organization to purchase essential medical equipment for the differently-abled beneficiaries of the association.
The cheque for the donation was handed over at the Association’s Sohar branch to Mr. Dawood Salman Al Shedi, Branch Supervisor – Oman Association for the Disabled (Sohar), by Mr. Mazin Mahmood Al Raisi, AGM of Marketing & Publicity, Bank Sohar.
Commenting on the donation, Ms. Munira Abdulnabi Macki, DGM of Human Resources and Corporate Support said, “Bank Sohar has been proactive in its support to associations which are engaged in the overall development and support of the community, and understands the needs of such demanding work. By offering our support we can ensure that organizations such as Oman Association for the Disabled have access to all resources they require to operate at peak efficiency and ensure help and support is always available to those in need. I truly hope that the equipment purchased will have a positive impact in supporting the integration of the differently-abled into the local society.”
Apart from normal banking activities, Bank Sohar in it Corporate Social Responsibility programs (CSR) through sponsorships, donations and through various charitable organizations in the country. In this, its most recent donation, Bank Sohar offered support to the Sohar branch of the Oman Association for the Disabled in the purchase of essential medical equipment, electrical beds and specialized wheel chairs. This donation marks its 5th consecutive year of support to the Oman Association for the Disabled as well as its second contribution this year alone; having supported the Association’s Muscat branch earlier in the year.

I am confident that this contribution will bring about a positive change in the lives of the people we help.”
Apart from the Sohar and Muscat branches of the Oman Association for the Disabled, Bank Sohar has also supported a broad range of other charitable organizations across the Sultanate this year, including Dar Al Atta, Oman Road Safety Association, Association of Early Intervention for Children with Disabilities, Creative Centre for Rehabilitation, Al Wafa Social Centre for Children with Disabilities, Al Noor Association for the Blind (Sohar, Salalah and Muscat branches), Oman Cancer Association and The Association for the Welfare of Handicapped Children together with its dedicated Autism Center.
Bank Sohar’s CSR initiatives have become an integral part of its operational strategy and as a result, it has received numerous accolades for its CSR efforts over the past years, both regionally and internationally. The Bank plans to continue in its steadfast quest of philanthropy with many more donations and charitable events planned for the current year.
The Oman Association for the Disabled was established in Muscat in 1995 to serve disabled individuals and highlight their true potential to the society. It ensures that their rights are being upheld in a fair manner and encourages their participation in various activities and sporting events. In addition, it works towards building their skills and further developing their talents; thereby increasing their work potential and enriching their lives.
