‘Best Heritage Performance’ renamed to ‘Best Heritage Model’
The Organising Committee of the Liwa Dates Festival announced that the highly popular competition ‘Best Heritage Performance’ is to be renamed to ‘Best Heritage Model’.
Held under the patronage of H. H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs, the Festival is organised by the Cultural Programs and Heritage Festivals Committee – Abu Dhabi, with the support of many state and private institutions, and this from the 12th until the 18th of July.
Director of the Liwa Date Festival, Mr. Obaid Khalfan Al Mazrouei, noted, “The competition ‘Best Heritage Performance’ is to be renamed to ‘Best Heritage Model’.”
The rules stipulate the use of natural materials in the artwork, within any of the many fields of the authentic Emirati heritage. The jury will take into consideration the number of heritage pieces used in the artwork, the degree of workmanship, and the harmony between the used materials.
The artwork should represent an aspect of the old way of life, and the dimensions of the model must range between 1 metre and 2 metres at highest.
