C3 US-Arab Summit discusses means of improving healthcare
The US-Arab International Healthcare Summit is a one –day event that aims at the advancement of ‘medical diplomacy’ between the regions of the US and Middle East (ME). The summit took place Monday April 28th at the ‘Union League’ in New York, USA with the aim of sharing best practices in the medical field and discussing ways of transferring medical expertise as well as the expansion of imports and exports between the US and ME markets.
Given the continuing growth and importance of the healthcare sector to both regions C3 has chosen ‘healthcare’ as a title for this summit with the goal of building, fostering and strengthening relationships between the US and Arab healthcare providers/suppliers, focusing on three main principles:
• Community: create a global healthcare platform for exchanging ‘best practices’
• Collaboration: promote dialogue and grow existing relationships critical to ‘medical diplomacy’
• Commerce: facilitate new healthcare ventures and opportunities to stimulate ‘medical tourism’.
The event will host a number of important figures in the field of healthcare such as Dr. Adel Adawy, Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population as well as a selective number of ministers, doctors and more than 450 attendees from business disciplines, professors and politicians in order to promote the Arab world initiatives that focus on US and Arab healthcare improvement.
Hospitals and companies are also to be represented in the summit, including Dubai Harvard Foundation for Medical Research, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, and MSD, a second biggest leading company in healthcare industry known in North America as Merck.
Attendees will discuss the latest issues and solutions impacting the global healthcare field as well as see new technologies and products and services that promise to improve the knowledge transfer of education and innovation between the regions of the US and Middle East
Kevin Ali, President of MSD, will head a very important session in the summit along with Dr. Ibrahim Naguib El Ebrashy, professor of internal medicine and head of the diabetes & endocrinology center Kasr Al Ainy. Dr. El Ebrashy’s talk will be focused on Diabetes in the Middle East. Dr El Ebrashy has his extensive expertise working as the General Manager of New KasrAl Ainy Teaching Hospital from 2004 till 2006. He also worked as the dean of the National Institute for Diabetes & Endocrinology at the Ministry Of Health in the period like MGSD and the treasurer of the Egyptian Group for the Study of Diabetes.
