City Centre Sharjah leads heart diseases awareness campaign
After 1,676 women were tested for cardiovascular diseases to date in the UAE, ‘Go Red for Women,’ the global movement against the number one killer of women worldwide is moving to Sharjah.
Starting this weekend, City Centre malls will lead a series of complimentary heart health checks-ups for women to determine blood pressure, blood sugar, Body Mass Index (BMI) and cholesterol levels, starting with City Centre Sharjah on May 23rd from 2pm-9pm and on May 24th from 10am-7pm.
‘Go Red for Women’ was founded by the American Heart Association in 2004 to raise awareness about prevention and control of heart diseases amongst women. It has grown since then with more than 30 countries participating at present.
In the Middle East, Majid Al Futtaim spearheads the campaign with 13 shopping malls across the UAE, Bahrain, Egypt, Lebanon and Oman with local government agencies. In the UAE in particular, the campaign is rolled out in partnership with the Ministry of Health and City Centre Clinic, whose medical practitioners go on the roads to perform the testing.
