DM delegation partakes in World Cities Summit Mayors Forum 2014
Dubai Municipality delegation headed by Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of DM has participated in the fifth edition of World Cities Summit Mayors Forum (WCSMF) held on Sunday 1 June in Singapore.
The WCSMF 2014 is a key highlight at this year’s World Cities Summit (WCS), a biennial global platform for government and industry leaders to address liveable and sustainable city challenges, share integrated solutions, and forge high-level partnerships.
Lootah was accompanied by Eng. Dawood Al Hajiri, director planning department, Mr. Najib Mohammed Saleh, head of planning research section, Eng. Marwan Mohammed, head of irrigation projects section and Mr. Walid Al Shaibani , head of DM Club.
Commenting on DM’s participation in the summit he said, “I am very delighted to have this unique opportunity to meet over 130 mayors and leaders from global cities, where they agreed on putting people at the centre of policy goals to achieve sustainable urban development.” “We discussed the importance of good governance and community engagement, and how smart technologies will contribute to urban development at the World Cities Summit Mayors Forum (WCSMF),” he said.
“The Forum highlighted the importance of nurturing a global community of mayors and city leaders to share different approaches and plans in light of common challenges faced by cities, especially rapidly emerging cities in Asia,” he added.
WCSMF 2014 features the largest gathering of mayors to date. Also participating in the forum were experts from international organisations, including the United Nations, World Bank, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and Asian Development Bank.
