FAD International Academy showcases thirty-five GEN-NEXT designers at India Fashion Week in Dubai 2014
FAD International Academy, one of India’s premier contemporary arts and fashion schools, showcases 35 GEN-NEXT designers at India Fashion Week Dubai 2014.
The shows will be held at 4:45pm on Thursday 4th of September, and 4:00pm on Friday 5th of September at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers Dubai.
The show on the first day will feature over 70 ensembles that will start with the print-based high street collection and then leading into the avant-garde couture line inspired by the dramatic steam punk sub genre.
The second day show, on the other hand, is inspired by the dying craftsmanship from rural India and develops this to a contemporary fashion line with global silhouettes. As an effort to promote and revive the craft form, and draw the attention of international fashion houses to support these communities specializing in them, the four designers of the show extensively travelled to these rural areas to understand and tell the craftsmen’s story through their unique collection.
Taking advise during a brief meet in Paris with Franca Sozzani, Editor-in-Chief of VOGUE Italy, the GEN-NEXT designers are inspired to work on global fashion sensibilities and translate this through their collections in a striking contrast to the usually expected Indian fashion lines by more traditional designers. These young and talented innovators are expected to take over the runway with their themes of Steam Punk, Prints & Prints and Indian Diffusion.
FAD International Academy, the school of these GEN-NEXT designers, has for the past five years taken their students to an international platform with annual fashion shoots, visits to London, Paris and Milan Fashion Weeks and global showings. Invited by Vogue Talents, the forthcoming collection is tipped to be featured in the Vogue Italy September 2014 Issue.
