First-ever regional entrepreneurship conference launches
A press conference held launched the upcoming ‘Entrepreneurship in Economic Development Forum’ which will be held on February 24 and 25 at Qatar University. The event is organized by QU’s College of Business & Economics (CBE) and Interactive Business Network (IBN).
CBE Dean Dr Nitham Hindi presented details on the two-day forum which will be held under the patronage of the Qatar Minister of Energy and Industry HE Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada and will feature international experts in business, education, finance and leaders from various sectors in Qatar. Guest speakers from around the world will present an insight into the world of business ownership, management, and related matters.
The conference which has as its theme “Fostering the new generation of entrepreneurs in Qatar and the Gulf”, will bring together young, prospective business owners with established business leaders to encourage and support the spirit of entrepreneurship in Qatar and the Gulf.
In his remarks, Dr Hindi said: “The forum is the first such event in Qatar in which students, faculty, business owners, government policy-makers and advisers and others will have the opportunity to dialogue and share ideas and advice. Presenters at the forum bring experience and a wealth of knowledge which will be of considerable benefit to our students and faculty members”.
Dr Hindi noted that the field of entrepreneurship is growing in importance in Qatar and the region, adding: “Qatar University and the College have recognized the need for education in this regard which will encourage students towards becoming business owners and so bring added value to the national economy”.
He referred to CBE’s continued commitment to promoting an entrepreneurial culture as reflected in the establishment of an Entrepreneurship Center of excellence, a minor in entrepreneurship, and an entrepreneurship concentration within its MBA program. “Our aim is to establish a platform to support entrepreneurship, and orient all efforts to eliminate all barriers to students’ creativity, funding opportunities, and implementation. We are pleased to cooperate with IBN to bring this event to success, and appreciate the support of HE Dr Al Sada and the sponsoring companies”, Dr Hindi said.
