H.E. Hani Al Hamli opens PALME
The region’s professional sound, light and music equipment exhibition, PALME Middle East, takes centre stage in Dubai today with H.E. Hani Al Hamli, Secretary General, Dubai Economic Council officially inaugurating the exhibition.
With mega entertainment projects being announced, and delivered, on a regular basis, plus the burgeoning media and production zones and ever expanding live concert industry entertainment is playing a massive role in the country’s economic development.
Speaking at the show, Richard Brook, Exhibition Director of PALME Middle East said: “There can be no denying there is resurgence in the market and that is good news for the best in the world of sound and light who, at PALME Middle East, have the chance to showcase what they have to offer.”
“More than 200 brands are present at the show, and combined they cover the entire spectrum of the entertainment industry, from cabling and lighting solutions to musical instruments and live acts.” added Brook.
In a recent interview, Ellie Battah, General Manager at ROBE Middle East and an exhibitor at PALME, mentioned the resurgence of the industry “The market in Dubai is growing again, and returning to how it was before the economic crisis. Market feedback is generally promising, and winning the bid to stage the EXPO 2020 has brought a hugely positive vibe to our industry.”
“Sales in the rental and staging sector are generally growing, as well as fixed installations. There is also a keen interest from architectural lighting projects. We have been talking to a few of the big players and we expect to close some deals at PALME, especially after they see the new products we will be showcasing this year,” commented Battah.
The world’s best known brands, including Phillips Entertainment, American DJ and DAS Audio will be on demonstration to manufacturers, integrators, distributors and installers from a broad spectrum of industries including sports, retail, hospitality, concerts and exhibitions.
The show has also introduced a new approach to its educational platform, and is running a number of seminar sessions tailored to the production of live events as well as sound and lighting for different venues.
Today’s sessions (15 April) will be focused on the event production industry, and will cover how to meet expectations of an international specification with local availabilities, whereas day two will focus on event venues and the choices made regarding sound, lighting, and control systems for the benefit of both guests and staff.
