HMC wins three prestigious hospital design awards
Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has been honored with three design accolades at the Hospital Build & Infrastructure Middle East Awards 2014 held in Dubai.
Qatar’s premier healthcare provider received the awards for its recently refurbished Skilled Nursing Facility and the PET-CT Center for Diagnosis and Research at the National Center for Cancer Care and Research (NCCCR).
Rumailah Hospital’s Skilled Nursing Facility picked up a total of two honors: Best Hospital Design Award and Best Healing Environment Award, while NCCCR’s PET-CT Center for Diagnosis and Research won Best Physical Environment Award.
In total, HMC was shortlisted for 10 prizes across all eight award categories and was the only health organization to collect more than one award. In awarding two prizes to HMC’s Skilled Nursing Facility, judges described the building as “a perfect design that is beyond expectation, having the opportunity to redefine long-term care in the Middle East”. Its PET-CT Center was seen as “being modern yet culturally sensitive, delivering a harmonious and functional medical environment”.
HMC’s Managing Director Hanan Al Kuwari, PhD, said, “We are honored to have received these awards which recognize our efforts to enhance the patient experience through intelligent design. Creating healing environments in technologically advanced centers supports the high-quality care that our patients already receive at HMC.” “We are focused on continuing to develop innovative and better healthcare solutions, with the patient at the center of everything we do,” Dr. Al Kuwari said.
HMC’s Chief of Facilities and Workforce Development Mr. Hamad Nasser Abdulla Al Khalifa and Executive Director Corporate Communications Mr. Ali Al Khater were in Dubai to accept the awards on behalf of the organization at a ceremony held on the sidelines of the Hospital Build & Infrastructure Middle East Exhibition & Congress 2014.
“HMC is honored to receive these awards as acknowledgement of our drive for improvement and change. The organization plays an important role in delivering these innovations for the benefit of patients and families, and what we do now is important for the future health of Qatar’s population,” said Mr. Al Khalifa.
Managing Director, Informa Life Sciences Exhibitions Mr. Simon Page, said, “The awards celebrate the outstanding achievements from architects, design consultants, construction companies, developers and health authorities that have contributed to the growth and development of the hospital build industry in the region. HMC leadership has once again shown its commitment to the enhancement of the patient experience in its facilities and we would like to congratulate them on their winning entries for this year’s Hospital Build & Infrastructure Awards.”
