INSEAD, the leading international business school, announces a further step in its commitment to inspire the next generation of business leaders with Summer@INSEAD, the first INSEAD business program, designed and developed in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), to cater specifically for outstanding high school students.

From August 2 to 20, 2015, 25 ADEC young high-school talents along with another 20 international students will have the opportunity to attend an intensive summer course at the INSEAD Europe campus in Fontainebleau, France.

Speaking about the initiative, ADEC’s Director General, Her Excellency Dr. Amal Al Qubaisi, said: “Summer@INSEAD is one of ADEC’s endeavours designed to equip our youth with the skills necessary for them to be tomorrow’s leaders. This program is an excellent opportunity for our students, who will not only gain the fundamental skills in business and entrepreneurship through hands-on approach, , but will also be exposed to a completely new culture and heritage. This new and exciting learning experience will definitely add value to our students, of whom we are very proud, as a result of their outstanding performance in school.”

Dr. Al Qubaisi added: “As we move forward, ADEC will continue to look into different opportunities such as this one that will help add value for our students towards building a knowledge based economy. ADEC is now focusing strongly on science and technology at all levels of education. We believe that coupling science and technology with business know how and entrepreneurship is crucial for a work force that can operate and compete at the highest international levels. We see this as a platform from which our youth will have a much better perspective of what they have to offer to their country.

‘We believe that this first-ever INSEAD program targeting outstanding high school students will contribute to inspiring and empowering young talents to develop a deeper appreciation and understanding of the global economy as well as European culture. We hope that many of the participating students will go on to pursue further studies in management education and follow successful business careers in the future,’ Peter B. Zemsky, Deputy Dean of INSEAD commented.

The program offers both theoretical and practical experience and will equip students with the basic knowledge and skills required for an increased awareness of the world of business. ‘Designed and led by INSEAD’s world-class faculty, this challenging and enriching experience will provide students with a unique opportunity for personal and academic self-development.’ said Miguel Sousa Lobo, Associate Professor of Decision Sciences and Director of INSEAD’s Abu Dhabi campus.

Taught in English, the course uses interactive, real examples and exercises to help students learn about business in a way that is relevant to their everyday lives. Students participating will also further appreciate the critical role of business in society and the ways in which it can – and should – be a force for good. The program also put a lot of emphasis on teamwork following INSEAD’s approach to leadership development.
To provide a wealth of cross-cultural experiences, Summer@INSEAD further includes many visits to Paris’ historical and cultural landmarks as well as France’s iconic brand names such as the Galeries Lafayette and Louis Vuitton. Through these activities as well as talks with business leaders, students will have a chance to learn how France has leveraged its cultural legacy, its “savoir faire” and “savoir vivre”, and created some of the world’s most sought after museums, luxury houses, gastronomy, and hospitality experts.
INSEAD is a pioneer of international business education, with the introduction of the 10-month MBA in 1959 and the opening of the Fontainebleau campus in France in 1960. The world’s leading international business school branched into the Middle East in 2007 and inaugurated its Abu Dhabi campus in 2010 to support the development of business education in the dynamic region. In this strategic location, ranked first in the region for doing business by the World Bank, INSEAD offers insights into international business ideas and worldwide business practise, while helping to develop the global connections that will underpin Abu Dhabi’s sustained growth well into the future.
