Join Dubai’s most diverse celebration of creativity at Art Nation
Unleashing creativity in abundance, Art Nation at BurJuman is returning with a new expanded edition to transform the mall into an artistic spectacle – throwing the spotlight on more than 100 unusual creative talents.
With an exciting line-up of shows including a Hair Fashion Show, Baker’s Competition and Wearable Art Fashion Show, the 10-day event kicks off on 15 May. The diverse lineup includes painters, performers, designers, dancers, musicians, muralists, live competitions and an art exhibition with countless quirky art pieces on display until 24 May.
“We are pleased to provide a platform for artists to showcase their creativity before a large audience. With a strong reputation for unveiling diverse, unconventional and often young talent from across the UAE, Art Nation continues to grow each year with more and more artists getting involved. This event has always been well received and this year once again we look forward to welcoming art lovers of all ages,” said Leigh Regan, Chief Operating Officer, BurJuman.
Art Nation will get a stylish look with three chic fashion shows on the agenda, including a Hair Fashion Show that will see stylists create unusual hairdos inspired by the Wonders of the World. The first two fashion shows are scheduled for Friday 16 May at 7:40pm and Saturday 24 May at 7:50pm and the Hair Fashion Show will be hosted on Friday 23 May at 7:00pm.
Creativity at Art Nation is set to take an aesthetic turn with a special Makeup Competition on 17 May at 7:00pm, which will see six professional artists blend their creativity with originality to nail the best “Retro Glam” look using products sponsored by Bourjois Paris. The contest will be judged by Reshu Malhotra, a popular personality from the beauty world and Aleksandra Mainka, Marketing Manager at Bourjois Paris.
The Baker’s Competition at Art Nation will provide the culinary experts an opportunity to test their talents in creating quirky cakes. “My Favorite Fashion Brand” theme gives Dubai’s baking enthusiasts a chance to combine their love for baking and fashion into tasteful cake decorations. Visitors can watch the Baker’s Competition live on 15 May at 6:30pm.
Art enthusiasts can look forward to watching the creative process in action at the Live Art stage where painters and artists such as those with a knack for graffiti, henna, rangoli, feet and nail painting and charcoal, dance and pen art, will be demonstrating their work in front of audiences from 15 May to 17 May and 22 May to 24 May between 4:00pm and 8:00pm.
Budding young music and dance stars will take to the stage with entertaining live performances. From famed Tajikistani singer Yasmina Alidodova to several talented dance groups such as Maayavi Classical Dance School and Prima Dance School amongst other gifted performers, artistic celebrations at BurJuman will be in full swing throughout Art Nation.
Over 15 short films will be featured during all the 10 days of the event, promoting the creative passions of young and promising filmmakers from the UAE and beyond. Movie enthusiasts and audiences can mingle with the filmmakers at BurJuman on 17 May and 24 May from 6:30pm onwards.
Art lovers looking to treat themselves to a feast of creativity can watch out for artists such as Sanjay Thapar, a graduate of JJ Schools of Arts, with four gold medals to his credit; Veena Devagiri, an inventor, artist and teacher who recently won the ‘Innovator of UAE’ award for creation of the Color Wheel, which will be exhibited at Art Nation; Biji Divakar, an art teacher and an award-winning artist; Shivani Mathur, an oil painter who was quoted by ‘Young & Trendy’ magazine as a quiet artist who’d rather let her works do the talking; Karolina Nowak-Konieczna, an art historian and painter whose works have been exhibited in Poland and Germany; Haafiza Syed, who is a regular exhibitor based in the UAE and Lara Aboukhaled, a Lebanese painter with a background in 3D Modeling and Animation.
