MAF Cinemas plans Dhs750m expansion

Dubai-based shopping mall developer, Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) has said it will invest over Dhs750m ($204m) on the expansion of its cinema operations in the Middle East and aims to double its audience figures by 2016, Reuters has reported. MAF will invest Dhs190m on cinemas in Qatar, Bahrain and Oman, while in the UAE, it will spend Dhs275m revamping and expanding its Dubai operations, plus a further Dhs290m in neighbouring emirates Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, according to the chief executive of subsidiary Majid Al Futtaim – Cinemas, Cameron Mitchell.
