MBRF joins hands with Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Establishment on ‘My Family Reads’ initiative
The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation (MBRF), under its ‘My Family Reads’ initiative, has delivered a large collection of books in the form of 180 knowledge packages to the employees of Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Establishment (MBRHE) and their families.
The ‘My Family Reads’ initiative, a programme under which a variety of books are distributed to targeted Emirati families in the UAE, was launched in December 2013 on the directive of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to implement the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to create a knowledge based society.
Speaking on the occasion, H.E. Jamal Bin Huwaireb, said, “The cooperation with MBRHE on the ‘My Family Reads’ initiative comes in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to activate partnerships between government entities to enhance excellence in government performance. We welcome MBRHE on board this initiative which will help establish the culture of reading in families and enable the local society in the UAE to gain access to some of the great literary works in the world. We are glad to inform that the initiative will not only benefit the employees of MBRHE but also its customers who will be given the knowledge packages at the time of delivery of their homes.”
A number of Arabic translations of major international literary works have been included in the knowledge packages. Notable among them is the National Geographic World History Biographies Series, produced by National Geographic in collaboration with Book House, which highlight the lives of some of the world’s most eminent scientists and geniuses. The packages also include educational books for children, offered in partnership with Majdalawi Masterpieces Bookstore.
Sami Gargash, Executive Director of MBRHE, said, “The ‘My Family Reads’ initiative is a major effort towards realizing the objective of spreading knowledge and skills in the local community. We at MBRHE are proud to be part of this initiative that will encourage our staff and their families as well as our customers to take up the reading habit.” Gargash added, “MBRHE is committed to Arabic language teaching in order to strengthen the national identity of our future generation. Our partnership on this initiative will not only reinforce the bonds within our organization but also enable us to support MBRF in its social and cultural initiatives.”
