National Ambulance Centre (NAC) announced that it will launch a new rapid response ambulance service in Bahrain during the next six months. The service will include 14 satellite ambulance stations across Bahrain, all staffed with paramedics, said a report in the Gulf Daily News. The expanded service is expected to speed up emergency response times nationwide. Each ambulance station will co-ordinate with a national emergency nerve centre staffed with doctors and medical specialists, while trained personnel will receive emergency calls and assess cases to ensure proper response. Details of the scheme were outlined as Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa was briefed on progress during a visit to the National Ambulance Centre.
