National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking holds its 33rd meeting
The National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking held its 33rd meeting in the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dubai, and discussed a number of topics related to combating human trafficking and providing support to victims as well as implementing the national strategy.
His Excellency Dr. Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Minister of State for Federal National Council, Chairman of the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking, said, “Human trafficking is a major issue facing all countries in the world. The UAE has been fighting these crimes through international cooperation and effective contribution to research and studies focused on ensuring human rights in all communities.”
H.E. Dr. Gargash explained, “This global problem can be eliminated only through international cooperation. Stating that the world needs a concerted effort to reduce the negative effects such crimes on human society.” H.E. Dr. Gargash added, “The UAE seeks to utilize the potential means to eliminate trafficking crimes and protect the weak segments of the society such as children and women from exploitation through the relevant institutions that offer complete protection for them.”
“The National Commission for Combating Human Trafficking has received a letter of thanks from United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime for the GCC countries for its contributions to the international study on human exploitation. This is a recognition of the UAE’s efforts to eradicate these crimes,” said H.E. Dr. Gargash.
The meeting focused on the request of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime for the GCC countries to develop partnership with the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking. The meeting also discussed the financial aids for victims of trafficking and collecting donations for the victim support fund. The meeting also highlighted a letter from the Dubai Police regarding the Third Annual Forum to Combat Human Trafficking.
