Oman’s agriculture and fisheries ministry has said a major dairy project, which is expected to boost Oman’s fresh milk production capacity, is to be launched soon in the Dhofar governorate, Times of Oman has reported. The proposed dairy project will have massive private sector participation and foreign direct investment, a ministry official said. The government has decided to reduce its share from 60% to 40% by distributing its share between Omani National Livestock Development Co and Oman Food Investment Holding Co. Oman’s dairy market is dominated by Saudi fresh milk producers.
