Royal Bahrain Hospital marks Earth Hour 2014
As part of its community involvement and environmental commitment towards a better planet, Royal Bahrain Hospital (RBH) proudly joined the world on 29 March 2014 in marking “Earth Hour” by switching off unnecessary lights at all its buildings from 8.30pm to 9.30pm.
Commenting on this honorable initiative, Mr. Jacob Thomas, Operations Director at Royal Bahrain Hospital (RBH), has expressed the hospital’s keen interest to join in such occasions, from their strong belief of the importance of everyone’s global duty to preserve the environment.
“Sharing the Earth Hour campaign, is one of many things the hospital do in order to help in preserving the environment, as the Royal Bahrain Hospital (RBH) is considered one of the pioneer hospitals in the region which is moving towards a totally paperless environment. This reflects the hospital’s noble strategy in the commitment to the planet,” he added.
Earth Hour is a worldwide movement for the planet organized by the Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF). The event is held worldwide annually encouraging individuals, communities, households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour, from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. on the last Saturday of March, as a symbol for their commitment to the planet. It was famously started as a lights-off event in Singapore in 2007. Since then it has grown to engage more than 7000 cities and towns worldwide.
MR. Ahmed Jawahery, the president of Royal Bahrain Hospital (RBH), said, “Royal Bahrain Hospital delivers state-of-the-art-medical care with a professional team of doctors, nurses, paramedics and administrators, combined with high-end facilities and equipment from countries such as Germany and the USA. Furthermore, the hospital has a modern Hospital Information System (HIS), which allows operations to be almost paperless.
