RTA shares with Dubai Police delegation best asset management practices
The Asset Department, Corporate Technical Support Services Sector, Roads and Transport Authority RTA), has recently received a delegation from the Dubai Police to review storage practices applied by RTA’s Asset Management Department at world-class standards.
To this effect a meeting was held in RTA Head Office attended by Udai Al Deesi, Director of RTA Asset; Captain Obaid Al Shamsi, Head of Properties Management Section, General Directorate of Services & Supplies at the Dubai Police; and a host of officials from both parties.
Al Deesi commended the ongoing communication with the Dubai Police; which ranks amongst top RTA’s strategic partners, adding that such visits would greatly leverage the government business conduct to the highest standards such that Dubai would sustain its leading role at all fields. Such engagement, he says, is a clear demonstration that team work is an integral part of the drive towards excellence and quality.
During the meeting, a thorough explanation was made about the Organizational Chart of the Dep’t and Sections, tasked responsibilities, key jobs undertaken, strategic future objectives set, and the core principles of applying RTA asset management system comprising work teams, follow-up methods, application programs, and monitoring techniques in place. A brief account was made about the International Pas 55 Asset Management System along with its diverse requirements, international compatibility certificate obtained by the RTA, and the future improvement plan of the Department in accordance with precise criteria and principles.
During the meeting a visual presentation was made about the sensitivity of assets, asset performance indicators, and RTA’s inter-agency asset operational efficiency over the past years. Discussions also covered the annual Inventory turnover ratio, techniques adopted in main RTA warehouses, and how they are managed.
For their part, members of the visiting delegation commended this meeting and the communication with the RTA, offering exposure to the job nature of RTA Asset Management Dep’t in order to exchange expertise and improve the business conduct up to the required standard. They stressed that business units, albeit having different names, are in fact one environment with a primary aim of achievement, development and community service. They praised the RTA as it continuously seeks to obtain and apply the best specialized scientific programs in various respective fields; rendering it among the distinguished government entities in Dubai over the past few years.
