SAFCO delays new plant commissioning

June 24, 2014 2:06 am

Saudi Arabian Fertiliser Co (Safco), a unit of Saudi Basic Industries Corp (Sabic), has said the start of commercial operations at its Safco-5 plant had been delayed until the first quarter of 2015, Reuters has reported. The delay in the start-up of the plant, originally scheduled for the third quarter of 2014, was due to construction work falling behind the original timetable, the firm said. Once completed, Safco-5 will be one of the largest urea plants in the world, with an annual production capacity of 1.1 million tonnes.
