SAIF Zone organises first Investors Meet
The Sharjah International Airport Free Zone Authority (SAIF Zone) organized on Monday the first Investors Meet at Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre with the presence of a large number of investors from across the country.
The B2B investor forum was held under the patronage of Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Free Zones Authority, who expressed his pride in organizing this event by SAIf Zone, which seeks to create a platform for investors to network and share ideas with the aim of developing business environment and improving practices for the benefit of both the investor and customer.
Sheikh Khalid pointed out that the Investor Meet 2014 is one of the premier economic events initiated by SAIF Zone, providing a genuine opportunity for investors to share experiences and skills for business development as well as a an ideal platform to interact, exchange ideas and share the expertise and practical and technical skills, so as to achieve further success and address negative aspects and problems that may face investors.
He added that the first edition of the Investor Meet will be the cornerstone of the consecutive editions which will build on its outcomes, calling on investors to make their comments and suggestions for the upcoming editions.
The Authority had earlier invited investors and companies operating in the free zone as well as a number of investors in various investment sectors in the UAE to attend the major investment event.
In a keynote address about challenges in the investment sector, Eng. Rashid Al Leem, Chairman of Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA), highlighted SAIF Zone’s major role in removing impediments facing investors.
“The SAIF Zone has contributed significantly to removing obstacles that face local and international investors by providing the necessary facilities to its customers, to become now one of the major economic hubs in the Arab world, as it brings together thousands of investors under its umbrella, Eng Al Leem said.
Speaking about his experience, Omar Al Busaidy, Head of Experience Development Unit at Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, who has multiple skills and vast experiences in the banking and investment sectors, highlighted the importance of human value in any business.
In his speech, Al Busaidy said, “We forget amidst our busy seclude of work that everything revolves around human value and that human being is the most important element in any investment.” He stressed that addressing problems that face any one at work and in public life primarily depends on how to deal with these problems on the ground of one’s stand toward solutions.
As a talented young Emirati woman, Eng. Ayesha Al Souqi, spoke about her experience in business and the difficulties she been through until she launched her own brand of sweets and café. She started her career by preparing desserts and succeeded in creating a unique blend of Eastern and Western flavours of sweets.
In her speech, Eng. Ayesha underlined the importance of setting a life goal and identifying strengths within every human being, emphasizing that success begins with a dream of human’s choice where it is impossible for any person to build other person’s dream.
Investors then engaged in an open session where a number of Saif Zone’s investors spoke about the major steps that contributed to the success and prosperity of their business at local, regional and international levels.
The debate also touched on a number of the challenges faced by the investment sector, especially in view of the competitive business environment and unstable economic conditions in some Arab countries.
During the event, Abdul Rahim Abdul Aziz Al Nimer representative of Dubai Commercial Bank, one of SAIF Zone’s strategic partners, was honoured in appreciation of his support for organizing this investor gathering.
A documentary about SAIF Zone’s investment activity, including testimonies of a large number of investors, was also screened during the event.
