Starbucks partners with Mala’eb to celebrate its Global Month of Service
As part of its Global Month of Service initiative, a worldwide initiative held annually during the month of April, Starbucks recently partnered with the Mala’eb initiative to carry out renovation work at the Hitteen School in Dahiat Al Haj Hassan.
For the second year in a row, Starbucks has collaborated with Mala’eb for its Global Month of Service activity in Jordan. During the project, Starbucks partners (employees) joined forces with customers and BADIR fellows to renovate the playgrounds at the Hitteen School. Participants worked to set up a football field and basketball and volleyball courts, in addition to planting trees, painting the surrounding walls, and painting a number of classrooms inside the school.
Commenting on the occasion, Rana Shaheen, Regional Communications and CSR Manager for Starbucks MENA, said, “We are very pleased to partner with Mala’eb for the 2nd year in a row to carry out another successful Global Month of Service activity. BADIR fellows work hand-in-hand with Starbucks partners and customers to make a positive change in the local community. The Global Month of Service reflects our ongoing commitment to creating lasting improvements in the communities where we do business, and through activities like this, we hope this inspires other individuals and organizations to do the same.”
The Global Month of Service is part of Starbucks’ company-wide commitment to helping create flourishing neighborhoods wherever it does business. The initiative invites partners (employees) and customers to roll up their sleeves and participate in service projects that help create positive, sustainable change in communities around the world.
The Mala’eb initiative operates under Hikmat Road Safety, which is committed to providing support and council for governmental and civil society institutions in order to decrease the number of casualties and injuries resulting from traffic accidents. Mala’eb is dedicated to establishing playgrounds and sports fields where young people can play safely away from traffic.
