UAE cuts medicine prices by up to 56%
The UAE health ministry has announced a price cut ranging between 1% and 56% for 11 types of medicines, Khaleej Times has reported. The new prices on the medicines will be applicable from June 14. “Those medicines have had a 1 to 56% cut in their prices,” Dr Amin Hussain Al Amiri, assistant undersecretary at the ministry for public health policies and licensing, told the daily. The decision to reduce prices was taken after the health minister issued a ministerial decision allowing pricing and registration of 252 products manufactured by global, regional, and local pharmaceutical companies. “The new medicines are prescribed to treat blood diseases, rheumatoid arthritis, allergy, hormone disorders, auto-immune diseases, tumours, bronchial asthma, diseases of the digestive system and others,” he said.
