Variety of eServices for special needs are available on Bahrain.bh
As the eGovernment Authority (eGA) strongly believes in providing the public with effective, high-quality services for all society segments, it offers an array of services to special needs individuals via the national eGovernment portal (Bahrain.bh) and National Contact Center (8000 8001); so as to enhance its electronic channels and user-experience.
The authority participated at the Special Needs Support Exhibition that was inaugurated at the Gulf Hotel by Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, Under-Secretary for Resources and Services at the Ministry of Education, on behalf of the event’s patron H.H. Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa First Deputy Chairman of Supreme Council for Youth and Sport, and Chairman of Bahrain Athletic Association; with the participation of Mr. Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, eGovernment Authority CEO.
During the event, eGA showcased all its eServices – focusing primarily on the services and their gained benefits that are exclusively designed for special needs individuals; as well as opened registration for the eKey system.
eGA’s revamped portal offers supportive features such as Screen Reader that supports accessibility for the visually-impaired persons.
The authority also provides a set of eServices for the hearing-impaired individuals via the visual call services provided at the National Contact Centre via Skype to obtain six services that comprise the Housing Services Eligibility Criteria, Smart Card Appointment, Unemployed Job Search, Immunization, Appointment for Driving Training Class and Financial Support.
The special needs eServices via the portal include Issuance of Disability Cards for Disabled People and Rehabilitation Services. Beside other seven eServices, ranging from information to application services, all launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development. Special needs individuals are able to enquire about any service; as well as offer their suggestions and comments through the National Contact Centre which provides its services for the entire public, as well as hearing-impaired individuals via its video call services.
eGA is keen on taking part in events that are related to the special needs in order to support them, recognize their needs and execute them electronically. The authority’s latest participation in such events took place last March within Khalid bin Hamad Arabian Horse Racing Cup Festival for people with disabilities 2014.
