WebTeb closes $3.2m series C round on strong performance in healthcare advertising and mobile app downloads
WebTeb, the leading Arabic health and lifestyle portal, announced that it has closed a $3.2m Series C investment round led by Sadara Ventures. Existing WebTeb investors, including Siraj Palestine Fund, participated in the round.
Additionally, the company reported its iOS app has passed the 100,000-download mark in less than a month since launching. The WebTeb app improves the health and well-being of its Arabic-speaking users by helping them make informed health decisions. The app includes much of WebTeb’s professional medical content, including WebTeb’s TebChecker, a symptom checker that helps patients learn about their condition, a doctors’ directory which lists physicians according to the users’ location, industry-leading indexes, such as a drug, disease, treatment and tests index, as well as the only Arabic language drug interaction tool.
“Users are engaging with the app and many are using it to find doctors and call them,” said Dr. Mahmoud Kaiyal, Founder and CEO of WebTeb. WebTeb has the largest physician directory in the Arabic speaking market, and can help patients find doctors based on their location.
The company also reported healthy interest in its core business, the webteb.com destination site. “Health and pharmaceutical companies are beginning to allocate significant advertising budgets to online channels. They are focused on brand-safe opportunities and the ability to present relevant content to their audiences,” said Dr. Kaiyal.
“The intersection of content and healthcare on the Arabic Internet is a very interesting and important space. WebTeb is creating real value in this space, and is clearly ahead of the pack in the breadth, depth, quality, and authority of its offering. This Company has the potential to become a household brand, as it informs and educates its users about their health and well-being,” said Saed Nashef, Founding Partner at Sadara Ventures.
“We are pleased to see that WebTeb’s operations in Ramallah, Palestine, are continuously growing,” said Dimtri Diliani of Siraj Palestine.
