Zulekha Hospital has won the Mother Friendly Healthcare Facility Award at the Sharjah Baby Friendly City campaign launch

Zulekha Hospital Sharjah has been awarded the most ‘mother friendly’ healthcare facility by the Sharjah Baby Friendly City Campaign.

The announcement was made in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, during a ceremony held to reveal the results of the Sharjah Baby-Friendly City Campaign (SBFC) at Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre.

Dr Zulekha Daud, Founder and Chairperson of Zulekha Hospital, was joined by her daughter, Ms Zanubia Shams, Co-Chairperson of Zulekha Hospital who were recognised during this auspicious event for their outstanding contribution towards the Mother Friendly Workplace initiative.

Zanubia Shams, Co-Chairperson, Zulekha Hospital said: “We work tirelessly to ensure that our services and facilities are accessible to our local communities.  We know how busy many of our patients are, and when you have a sick child, you need to choose a healthcare facility that you can trust wholeheartedly.

“We are honoured to have been recognised for the work the hospital team has put in – from the administrative team welcoming and registering patients, to the nursing staff and our specially trained doctors, a satisfied patient journey is our number one priority.  We thank His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan and the Sharjah Baby Friendly City campaign organisers for this accolade.”

When Dr Zulekha moved to the UAE from Nagpur, India in 1964, it was her dream to serve people in need and offer affordable medical facilities to all.

Today, the Zulekha Healthcare Group runs two multi-specialty hospitals – Dubai and Sharjah, three medical centres and a pharmacy network.

One of the forerunners in UAE healthcare, Zulekha Hospital has earned widespread recognition for service to patients, collecting the Dubai Quality Award twice in the last four years.  The hospital is frequently playing its part towards society and most recently spearheaded a new breast cancer awareness initiative to help reduce the incidence of the disease and save lives across the Emirates.
