MoW’s Construction Projects & Maintenance Assistant Undersecretary Eng. Mona Jassim Al Motawa visited Halat Bu Maher Health Centre Project in Muharraq, where she revealed that 99% progress has been achieved in the project; planned for hand over to the Ministry of Health by the end of this month.
Al Motawa was accompanied by MOH’s Director of Engineering & Maintenance Eng. Ayid Al Khateeb, Director of Health Centres Dr. SimaZainal, Director of Health Planning Dr. Khawla AlGhatam, and MoW’s Director of Construction Projects Eng. WadeaMarzooq Ahmed and the team supervising the project.
Al Motawaexplained that the project is now in its final stage, where final works are being implememnted prior to hand over to the Ministry of Health; in line with directives from HRH the Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa to implement infrastructure projects and closely follow up people’s needs.
She also added that the Prime Minister directed for provision of enough parking spaces for the centre visitors, which are to be implemented on a piece of land located north of the centre.
The BD5,184,522 contracting works involved in the project were awarded to Arados Contracting & Maintenance. The 3 storey building covers a total area of 7072 m2, and also contains a cellar, a parking lot of 13,674 m2, a ground floor with rooms for regular check-up and others for quick check-up.
The ground floor also contains treatment and day-case services, in addition to a pharmacy, X-Ray, Diabetes Clinic and medical records. The first floor consists of dental clinics and gynecologist clinics, while the second floor includes childcare clinic, physical rehabilitation services like physiotherapy and water therapy. The centre also includes conference rooms, medical education rooms, administrative offices, stores, sample collection room and medical lab.
According to Al Motawa, the centre design provides an easy access to all facilities and ensures a speedy evacuation in emergencies, in addition to slopes on all entrances and exits to assist people with special needs. The building design has also fulfilled green buildings requirements and specifications by providing thermal insulation on all walls, ceilings and windows, in addition to LED lighting systems to save energy.
