Msheireb Properties (MP), a subsidiary of Qatar Foundation will participate at Cityscape Qatar 2014 to showcase its pioneering QR20bn regeneration of Doha’s historical commercial centre project, ‘Msheireb Downtown Doha’ (MDD).
Msheireb Properties will participate to highlight the pioneering work it is carrying out through the sustainable development of MDD and showcase the available retail spread across an area of 90,000 square meters and the commercial options available within MDD.
MDD, the world’s first sustainable regeneration of a downtown area in a city, incorporates key architectural features that deliver an unusually high level of sustainability elements including maximising water and energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions across the site. Msheireb Properties aims to create a unique architecture for Qatar, blending the country’s rich history and culture with modern innovation and design with an objective of transforming the way people think about urban living and improve their quality of life.
Msheireb Downtown Doha, on completion, will be the world’s largest certified sustainable community with 100+ commercial buildings, 900 residential units, 5200 solar panels and 40 underground electricity distribution substations. All the planned buildings meet the LEED Gold standard for environmental performance and some buildings will aim for a Platinum rating. The project will accommodate over 2,500 residents, 13,000 offices employees and over 60,000 visitors within a 310,000 square meter area.
The construction work which commenced in 2010 is on schedule, with Phase 1A near completion that includes the Amiri Diwan Quarter, the National Archive and four heritage houses to be converted into museums in addition to a mosque and Doha’s Eid prayer ground.

Held in Doha from June 2-4, Cityscape Qatar is the newest addition to Cityscape’s portfolio of events. As part of Qatar’s Vision 2030, the first National Development Program 2011-2016 involves investments of $125bn to be spent on infrastructure and development projects through semi-governmental companies. Further fuelled by the successful 2022 FIFA World Cup bid, Qatar offers real estate companies and investors an unprecedented opportunity to become involved in the realization of its ‘Vision 2030′.
This power-networking exhibition and conference, Cityscape Qatar 2014 will be complemented by content-rich forums, and will serve as a platform to bring further transparency to this growing market and introduce its projects to an international audience. Other highlights of this year’s event include the Qatar Real Estate Summit where the CEO of Msheireb Properties Eng. Al Mehshadi will participate on the first day highlighting key trends and development in a panel discussion themed ‘Examining Drivers, Dynamics and Opportunities in Different Sectors’.
In addition to the exhibition, there will also be a glittering event on June 3rd at the Cityscape Awards and cocktail evening at the Qatar National Convention Centre. Msheireb Properties has applied for two awards in the categories of Commercial and Mixed Use Project Award and Retail Project Award. Msheireb Properties has previously won the Sustainability Award at Cityscape Global Awards for Emerging Markets 2013, at an event held last year in Dubai.
Cityscape Qatar Exhibition 2014 is held under the patronage of HE the Prime Minster, Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani. The event will bring together 10,000 real estate professionals , including investors, developers, architects, designers, governmental authorities, from over 70 countries who will come together to explore the exhibition and conference to close profitable real estate transactions, meet with peers and discover solutions to move their businesses forward.
