Dubai Municipality has bagged e-government excellence award constituted by Pan Arab Excellence Award Academy and offered by Arab Organization for Social Responsibility and the Academy of Online, in the category of ‘websites of municipalities and provincial administrations’, adding yet another feather to its crown of glory.
Dubai Municipality was entitled for this award for the best e-governance projects including website management, as component to its general efforts in the way of transformation towards smart-government.
Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah , Director General of Dubai Municipality said the winning of the award comes as result of years-long efforts exerted by the civic body to become a forerunner in the field of e-governance.
He expressed his delight on the occasion and praised the concerned sections who tried their best to position Dubai Municipality as a regional champion in the field of best online services.
Earlier, Mohammed Julfar, Assistant Director General of Dubai Municipality received the award at a function held at Al-Bustan Rotana, in the sidelines of the 5th edition of Pan Arab Excellence Award Academy’s award distribution ceremony, where he was present as one of the honorary sponsor.
While talking at the function he said, the award brings more responsibility on the shoulders of the civic body as one of the leading government bodies in the Arab region.
He also praised the efforts of the Arab Organization in the field of supporting and developing Arab government organizations and bodies to become competent in the global arena in the performance and excellence.
‘The award, indeed has become one of the major factors that creates healthy competition among the Arab government bodies and has encouraged them to develop strategies, set global standards and to perform best with quality and excellence as their characteristics’ he said.
The e-government excellence awards is offered by Arab Organization for Social Responsibility and the Academy of Online and aims to recognize and appreciate the efforts of the Arab governments for adopting the best web standards and practices on their websites and social media networks for more effective, open and transparent interaction with the populace, building bridges between people and state institutions. E-government services provision and improvement pave the way for Arab nations to advance from the e-government phase to the smart government phase.
