QITCOM features activities such as the Innovation Theatre, Tech Zone and Case Competitions.
MoI’s Information Systems Department will represent the Ministry and will display the latest electronic systems and devices which the department uses to facilitate easy and convenient public interaction with the Ministry through a wide range of e-services recently launched, including Metrash 2.
MoI participated in the previous editions of QITCOM with a pavilion that displayed the Ministry’s latest equipment and some of the systems it launched such as Metrash 2, the Geographical Directory, the Electronic Certification System at the General Directorate of Civil Defense, Self-Service Machines, as well as other advanced services for Qatari nationals and residents such as the smart ID card.
Last year, the Information Systems Department introduced Metrash 2, a simple and time-efficient service allowing members of the public to execute services through their mobile phones, such as issuing Exit Permits for personal sponsorships, issuing Exit Permits for company-sponsored personnel, viewing traffic violations and paying fines, viewing data of official documents registered for individuals, as well as additional services which can be accessed through the MoI’s website.
The department also showed the equipment that displays geographical maps included in MoI’s systems for security patrols to enable a quick response to accidents, in addition to a handheld device that allows traffic patrols to instantly process minor traffic accidents on site. The pavilion included MoI’s Geographical Directory, which is an internet system that shows Qatar’s geospatial data and offers a range of map exploration and search tools. The system is specialized in finding out and displaying the map’s geospatial data, and nationals and residents can familiarize themselves with the locations of MoI’s departments and service centers. MoI also displayed the Self-Service Machine, which enables users to complete their MoI-related transactions without the need to be physically present at the Ministry’s departments.
QITCOM visitors were able to obtain their smart ID cards at the Ministry’s pavilion which also introduced the E-Gate system that facilitates entry and exit procedures through Doha International Airport, and how to subscribe to the services the system offers.
