Alexandria fire partially cuts Egypt’s internet, phone calls

Telecom Egypt (TE) has said the country’s internet and telephone services have resumed after a partial interruption earlier yesterday, Ahram has reported. Egypt’s fixed-line monopoly operator announced earlier on Tuesday that its data and call services had been partially interrupted nationwide, due to a fault in one of its fibre cables. According to a TE official source, the cable was disconnected after a blaze in the communications centre in Alexandria, which affects the services of the country’s mobile operators, mainly Mobinil and Etisalat.
