Apple in talks to increase price of iPhone 6: report
Global investment banking firm, Jefferies has said that Apple is in talks with US wireless firms over pricing for its upcoming iPhone 6, with Apple seeking a higher than usual price for its new smartphone, Investor’s Business Daily has reported. It’s unclear if carriers, which subsidise the retail cost of Apple’s iPhone and make it up over the course of two-year service contracts, would accept the increase themselves, or pass the higher cost onto customers, said Jefferies analyst, Peter Misek, in a research note. “The initial response has been no, but there seems to be an admission (by wireless firms) that there is no other game-changing device this year. We think Apple might be able to get at least some of the increase, with the additional costs split between the carrier and consumer,” wrote Misek.
