At Mobile World Congress 2014, Barcelona, Spain, Mobily and Intel have signed an agreement to license Mobily as the 1st Telco Cloud Service Provider in Middle East, Turkey and Africa region to use the “Powered by Intel® Cloud Technology” logo with their cloud services.
Mobily, a pioneering Cloud Service Provider in ME, Turkey and Africa, is powered by Intel-processor based cloud technology. Commenting on this event, Khaled Al Kaf, Mobily CEO said “At Mobily, we thrive to avail the best of breed technologies to our clients. Using Intel Cloud Technology in the core of our cloud services and exposing that technology to end users through the Powered by Intel® Cloud Technology program, unveils the DNA of our cloud solution that helps to deliver floating point, encrypted and adaptive performance.”
Al Kaf added; “This partnership gives Mobily cloud services clients increased transparency and assurance of the high, adaptive and secure performance required to run their critical businesses efficiently”.
“We are very proud to partnership with a leading ICT like Mobily and we expect this to take the cloud computing services to the next level in our Saudi market” said Eng. Abdulaziz Al-Noghaither, General Manager, Intel Saudi Arabia.
“The growth in cloud computing is transforming the way businesses benefit from IT products and services. The economic growth in the Saudi market demanding businesses to optimize their operations and capitalize on these technology innovations, the industry must address unprecedented demand for efficient, secure and high-performing datacenter infrastructure. The Intel Xeon E5 processor series is designed to address these challenges by offering unparalleled, balanced performance across compute, storage and network, while reducing operating costs.”
The Intel Xeon™ E5 processor series used within Mobily cloud infrastructure establishes visibility, control, and compliance by ensuring your cloud workloads run on trusted compute pools , by using Intel® Platform Protection Technology (with Trusted Execution Technology [TXT]). TXT Helps to ensure that systems launch into a ‘known good state’, verifies integrity of key platform components, and verifies that the servers physically reside in a trusted geography.
Intel Xeon E5 processors also include AES-NI to promote the use of encryption everywhere by reducing the associated performance penalties. Intel AES-NI is a hardware accelerator based on a set of instructions. These special instructions reduce performance penalties and dramatically speed up the execution of encryption and decryption algorithms. Moreover, because the encryption and decryption instructions are executed in hardware, many software-based vulnerabilities are now being avoided.
In turn, this provides an extra measure of protection from software-based attacks. Jason Waxman, Vice President and General Manager Cloud Platforms Group at Intel adds “Intel welcomes Mobily to the “Powered by Intel Cloud Technology” Program and applauds their efforts to provide end users more transparency into the value of the underlying architecture supporting their Cloud services. Mobily is the first Cloud Service Provider in the Middle East, Turkey & Africa region to join the program and we are proud that they have chosen to build their cloud services with Intel processors to deliver quality, efficiency and capability in their cloud services.”
Mobily is spearheading the CSPs in META region with 38 DCs built and 56 targeted by 2016, and with this agreement enters into Intel’s new Cloud program to provide value and assurance of the cloud based services via “Powered by Intel Cloud Technology”.
