Nawras launched its 3rd 3G+ carrier services on the 900MHz band last Friday, across several cities countrywide. As part of their Turbocharging programme, Nawras have modernised base stations in the cities of Buraimi, Dhank, Yanqul, Ibri, Rustaq and Nakhal, to provide customers with an even faster mobile broadband service. Customers now have significantly improved indoor coverage, faster data download speeds, and an overall enhanced online experience, whether at home, in the office, at college, or out shopping.
The programme, which started in Muscat in 2012, has seen the successful roll-out of enhanced services across the Muscat Governate, then the Batinah coastline and now across a number of cities country-wide.
Sultan Al-Wahaibi, Nawras Network Implementation and Infrastructure Director, said “Being the only telecom service provider in Oman to provide 3G+ services on 900MHz, has allowed us to rapidly expand this fantastic service, to cover over 80% of the population. This is another even bigger step forward in providing a better experience to our customers, which has already been completed across more than 50% of our network. Browsing the internet, video streaming, downloads and online gaming are all much faster and easier than ever.”
Rapidly moving towards expansion of these services across the Sultanate, over 60% of Nawras network in Salalah and areas from Mirbat to Mughsayl has already been modernised to house the latest telecoms equipment. Work is now underway to provide 3G+ services in the area, prior to the Salalah Festival this year, where both Nawras customers and visitors to Salalah will have access to a great mobile broadband experience. At the same time, the Nawras superfast 4G mobile broadband service is being expanded across the city of Salalah to provide an exclusive online experience to Nawras customers, during the 2014 Festival.
