Zain, the leading telecommunications company in Kuwait, announced today the successful conclusion of the second Ramadan “Zain Penalty Tournament” that took place at Al Shaab Park’s “Goal” football pitch from 7-14 July during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
The company held a special conclusion ceremony in which first and second place winners were awarded for achieving the tournament title.
The event also witnessed the hosting of a friendly match between popular social media figures and previous National players with the presence of the tournament’s ambassador National goalkeeper and Kuwait Sports Club’s player Musaab Al Kandari.
In a press statement the company mentioned that this tournament comes for the second consecutive year in collaboration with the United Sports Company “mala3ibna”. This year’s edition witnessed the overwhelming participation of more than 300 participants who competed in the tournament for a whole week. The company awarded KD 2000 to the ( Swansi City ) team for achieving the first place title, in addition to prizing the ( Al Ahli ) team with smart devices for achieving the second place title.
Zain added that the conclusion ceremony witnessed a friendly match between popular social media figures and previous Kuwaiti National team players. Social media figures such as Dr. Abdullah Al Mutawa and Dr. Ahmad Liri, as well as popular TV host Jassim Al Abouw and actor Sha’baan participated in the match.
Zain explained that it organized the tournament for the second consecutive year after the overwhelming participation it witnessed last year. The company further highlighted that each team consists of a goalkeeper and a striker, where the tournament will be held on a knock-out basis.
It is worth noting that Zain organizes and sponsors a number of sports and health projects during the Holy Month of Ramadan, most notably Kuwait’s biggest and first of its kind health programs; the Rijeemy Walkathon. The program will be held in Mall 360 throughout the first 20 days of Ramadan, and will feature an array of health related programs and activities that will cater to a fasting person’s daily routine.
The initiatives and programs Zain plans for Ramadan will include humanitarian, voluntary, cultural, religious, and recreational activities as well to cater to the different segments of society. ENDS
